Whether you are evacuating or braving the storm it's important to secure your home! Here are a few tips to get you Ready:

  • Bring inside all outside furniture and loose items that can fly away.
  • Install Storm shutters. If you don't have any, plywood can also be nailed to protect your windows and doors
  • Make sure exterior doors are hurricane proof with at least 3 hinges and a deadbolt lock that is one inch long.
  • Replace old garage doors and tracks with a door that is approved for both wind pressure and impact protection.
  • If you have a boat on a trailer, know how to anchor the trailer to the ground or house.
  • If you have enough time, cut weak branches and trees that could fall on your house and keep shrubbery trimmed.
